February is upon us, and despite the groundhog's seeing his shadow, Spring will be here quickly. Plan now for your 2009 landscaping. If your trees and shrubs are in order on your site, it's time to begin the fine detailing that really makes a good landscpe installation perfection.
The Green Man recommends using the super-reliable Knock Out rose in YELLOW where you want color and low-management. Roses need lots of sun although the Knock Out will tolerate some light shade. YELLOW is The Green Man's color for use all the way around the site. Punctuate with REDS, PINKS, VIOLET, and WHITE, but employ PRIMARY YELLOW as your "tie-together" color everywhere. And the Yellow Knock Out rose is an ideal choice. It provides low-management and a long season of bloom.

Catmint 'Walker's Low'
Plant Yellow Knock Roses with its color complement and traditional companion, VIOLET catmints, such as "Walker's Low" or "Six Hills Giant" Work OFF-WHITE marigolds into the composition to complete the triad and to protect the roses in general. (For example, you may want to complement a 3-5-7 grouping of Knock Outs with a less hardy rose cultivar.
