Greetings from Charlottesville, Virginia!
The Green Man FLD is directly adjacent to the lovely grounds of old "Montesano" (Faulkner House)

"Famous for its amazing burgundy new foliage color! Blooms in Summer with spikes of interesting white flowers that contrast dramtically with foliage. Features excellent mildew resistance. May be pruned as shrub or allowed to grow into tree. Use as an accent or massed in borders. Perfectly sized for large containers. Deciduous shrub/tree. Full sun. Moderate growth 6 to 12 ft. tall, 5 ft. wide"
The Green Man notes that one of the remarkable sights in bucolic Charlottesville, Virginia during the summer months is the abundance of WHITE CRAPE myrtle that graces the landscape everywhere.
Usually, one sees the white cultivars of this popular Southern small ornammental tree in a grouping with pink cultivars. However, one building on The Green Man's daily route through town has used the white cultivar exclusively to contrast with its Jeffersonian Federal Style brick building. The combination creates a sense of timeless elegance. Consistently, The Green Man has advocated the incorporation of plenty of white into landcsape designs.
Many white crape myrtle cultivars are available, but 'Burgundy Cotton' has some advantages over the other. Enhanced mildew resistance and 4-season interest are top-most.
