'North Pole' seems to be an improved cultivar of one of The Green Man's favorite shrubs, 'DeGroot's Spire.' This compact arborvitae provides elegant, year-round coverage of right or left side verticals on the front of houses.
Use only one, on the appropriate front vertical, and complement it on the other vertical with an upright growing viburnum. Next, you are ready to select your foundation shrubs.
Note that the rootball must be dissected exactly in half by the vertical and planted 3 feet out from your foundation. Do not misalign your "vertical slayers" on either side!
